Correction: the meeting is TOMORROW September 26; 6pm (not September 19)

Hi everyone -

The USCG Arctic Outreach Committee will be in Nome tomorrow and Sandy Mazen, public education officer with the US Coast Guard, will be available to speak with us. Bring your questions about future Coast Guard involvement in this region and Arctic Alaska, and your ideas for how marine safety could be improved in the Bering Strait.

Friday September 26, 6 p.m. Northwest Campus conference room

Mazen, born and raised in Nome, is traveling with the USCG vessel Hickory.
"The Hickory's itinerary on what is expected to be about a three-week voyage includes stops at Kodiak, Dutch Harbor, Savoonga, Wales, Nome, Unalakleet and possibly Kotzebue and Shishmaref. It also will sail north of the Arctic Circle." For the full story, access the Homer Newspaper at: http://homernews.com/stories/091708/news_1_003.shtml
