[Perkins Family]

The State of Alaska motor vehicle fuel tax was suspended for one year 
effective yesterday, Sept.1st.

This equates to an 8 cent per gallon drop for gasoline at the pumps. 
This tax suspension forecoming was well advertised, and signed into law 
a week ago.  Along with the $1200 energy relief package our Governor and 
legislature recently passed, this tax relief was solely intended to 
trickle down directly to the consumer at the time of purchase.

As of 5 pm tonight (I checked), only one local gas station has passed 
this 8 cent per gallon savings on to the customer with a reduction in 
pump price.

In keeping with the theme of nome-announce, this is simply an 
announcement in the public interest.
