If the mine closes are you going to say to all those newly trained miners and their families, "Let them eat cake?"  You know what happened to her.
 
You have to admit the little cloud reflecting in a pristine pool is far prettier than hired door posters with a canned speech.

I have learned my lesson about posting non-announcements on this site.  It is not a forum for discussion of issues.  
 
If, however, anyone is interested in discussing one picture of a pristine pond "high up in the mine" vs several photos of the resultant river/creek run off low down in the mine area of said mine into the Snake River and its tributaries, personally witnessed by me, you are free to contact me via return email.

On August 19, I and another person, without anyone knowing, took this picture at Rock Creek Mine of a pool, high up inside the mine. I have been concerned about the water issue on Ballot 4.  Remember the image when you VOTE.  And do get out and vote.

I know!  A small group of Alaskans are in Nome to educate people about Ballot Initiative 4 and to ask for a YES vote on Tuesday.  A door to door campaign is something we just don't see in Nome.  Well, Fran Ulmer did it, but she's the only statewide candidate I know in the years I've lived here.  Tom Brannon did a door to door and literature drop (leaving hangers on doors) when he ran for school board a few years ago.  
 
As a voter, I appreciate seeing people at my door supporting a candidate or a ballot measure on which I will be asked to vote.  If they feel strongly enough to spend their time knocking on doors, hanging info on my doorknob, I'm grateful to accept their information - even if I don't agree with their candidate or issue.  Who knows?  I could change my mind!
 
As a voter, I don't want to get all my information from tv/radio ads or slick mailers.  Give me a person to talk with every time!
 
As a voter, I respect those who will face me for a discussion about the issue or the candidate asking me for my vote.  
 
In my life, I've felt strongly enough about candidates and issues to do this work myself. I've had dogs put on me, guns pulled on me, doors slammed in my face, the tires on my car slashed, threats to me & to my children, epithets hurled regarding my Mother and my siblings, just because I was trying to give people information. 
 
Where's the threat in that?
